Bats
Bats along a wide range in elevations are the subject of this study in the Crocker Mountain range in Sabah. The study has shown the Crocker range can protect a large diversity of bats. Bee Visitations
Bees visiting flowers in patches located in oil palm estates depended on the distance from the forest. The flower variety was also a factor with C.lanatus(Thunb.) attracting the most bees while S.lycopersicum (tomatoes) attracting the least. DOI: 10.1111/btp.13023

Jujuba
The shrub or small tree is also known as the red or Chinese date, is used in Chinese medicine to improve muscular strength and weight. Borneo is noted as having the greatest diversity of the species. The area around Mt. Kinabalu is particularly diverse. KEW BULLETIN DOI 10.1007/S12225-021-09970-3
Mangroves
Mangroves have been recognized as soft structures that provide coastline protection. This paper performs a literature search and organizes the literature found. It also discusses how the mangroves spread out the waves, the age and species of the mangrove forest, water depth and recommendations for planting effective mangrove forests. I have a copy if needed.
Place Names in Sabah
This article examines place names on colonial maps. They have found that most place names are the same or with minor spelling variations. Many of the place names exist until today. Ramin Daun Tebal

Another Tree
The plantings of the tree, Shorea macrophylla, (Engkabang) found only on Borneo has been the subject of insect damage. This paper shows insect damage being total in the leaves at the early stage but as the tree matures insect damage becomes less and less. Durians
The authors found six wild edible Durian species in Sarawak. Some are cultivated locally while three species remain in the forests. The wild species have a smaller weight and have a creamy taste and soft texture. One(Duro dulcis) has an incredibly pungent smell. They hold a great future for domestication. I have a copy.
Iban Genetics
The Northern Tibeto-Burman groups had an affinity for growing millet, while the southern Tibetan groups grew rice. They observed strong genetic connections between Austroasiatic groups and populations in Yunan and mainland Southeast Asian populations. Plants Found only in Borneo

Sun Bears
The genes on the mitochondria of the Sun Bears has been unravelled. The research has determined the Sun Bears from China are different but the difference is not enough to declare a new species.
New Orchid
A new orchid, Dendrobium ormerodii has been found in central Kalimatan. A member of the Dendrobium genus which has over 1800 species, the new flower has the usual orchid features. DOI: https://doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.524.3.5

Makan Tahun
Makan Tahun is the celebration of the food given at the end of the current year among the Kadayan. The hope is that the giver will multiply the food given for next year. Tropical Pitcher Plant
· Nepenthes clipeata is a pitcher plant found only on the near vertical cliffs of Mt. Kelam. It still persists in the wild but in very low numbers. Only 18 individuals were found, with one being female. The plants’ expansion is limited by nitrogen in the soil. The plant is critically endangered. https://doi.org/10.1080/17550874.2021.1984602
Pollution in lakes and ponds
This study shows a coagulant from pineapple leaves reduces the amount of dissolved substances in water which results in a higher oxygen content. It states the chemicals from foreign countries are too expensive. DOI: 10.18488/journal.2.2021.114.42.49

Sea-Level Changes
Sundaland, the underwater area between Malaya, Borneo, Java and Sumatra, is contingent on sea level change. New findings show that the sea level was mainly land during the late Pleistocene(129,00-11,000 years ago) but flooded in four phases during the Quaternary (11,000 years ago to present.) The spilling of water into Sundaland resulted in a change of migratory corridors and multiple habitats, which allowed for evolution to occur in Borneo and other areas.
