About Borneo History

I take long and involved articles written in academic English about Borneo and condense and change them into a manageable read so everybody can read them. The original article is sourced at the bottom of the piece. Where possible the author of the article is contacted and permission is requested. I also write articles using AI for information about Borneo. However, the facts provided by AI are meticulously checked against scholarly articles and not just Wikipedia.
All Creatures Great and Small is an occasional column where I notify of recent research about Borneo. It may include information about newly discovered species in this biological hotspot, recently published books, information about the denizens that wander our tropical rainforests and a brief summary of cultural articles about the wide variety of beautiful people who live here. All the articles have a reference to the original article so you may read more deeply on the subject.
I have lived and travelled in Borneo and Indonesia for the past twenty years. I am well known in the Sarawak National Library, the Tun Juga library and the Sarawak Museum Library as well as a host on internet sites such as such as JSTOR and others. I have written a book History of the Sarawak River Valley: Early Times to 1840 which has sold out but I will send you an e-copy upon request. I have also written a comic book Borneo Boys as well as many articles in the States. I hold a master’s degree in international affairs with a concentration of Southeast Asia as well as a biology degree from Salisbury University. I have awards and certificates too numerous to mention. I speak Malay and in September 2026 I will turn 75 and plan to travel and explore more throughout Borneo.
