I am Tom McLaughlin and I live in Kuching, Malaysian Borneo. I am well-known in local libraries, research sites and other historical places. I have written three books, two are fun and one is scholarly. I have a BS from Salisbury University in biology and an MA in international affairs in Southeast Asia from Ohio University.
My wife, Suriani Sahari, helps me translate Sarawak and ancient Malay into English. Suriani has transcribed a book from Jawi to Malay and has appeared numerous times on television. She is a lifelong resident of the local kampongs.
Dzul is my 13-year-old son and attends St. Thomas School.
